Richard Fry

Of Counsel

Practice Area: Family Law

Bio: As one of the original Ikard Wynne attorneys, Richard rejoined the firm in late 2014. His practice focuses primarily on family law, having started a solo family practice in 1998.

Richard served a five-year term (2009-2014) on the Family Law Council. During his tenure, he participated on the Legislative and Pro Bono committees, and continues his work as a member of the Pro Bono Committee. Since 2009, Richard has facilitated an annual pro-bono seminar entitled “Family Law Essentials,” which is presented in conjunction with the State Bar of Texas. This initiative is intended to provide continuing education to attorneys throughout the state who, in return for the free CLE, commit to taking two pro bono cases during the next calendar year.

In October 2014, Richard developed and moderated an eight-hour seminar, “Prosecuting and Defending a Domestic Violence Case. ” It was very well received in Travis County and throughout the state and has now been released on DVD for CLE credit. One of his previous shared publications, “Enforcing Child Support and Spousal Maintenance Orders,” continues to serve as a resource for attorneys involved in such cases.

Richard was previously the only private attorney appointed as a member of a national prosecutor’s committee, which was composed of county, state and federal prosecutors, law enforcement and IV-D directors. Its goal was to streamline the interstate enforcement of the various criminal statutes relating to the non-payment of child support.

In 2014, Richard served as the Family Law Section delegate to the State Bar Resolution Committee.
